Description Chris George 2013-11-21 19:51:19 UTC
Hello. I am working on creating an academic research/paper writing workflow. I find it very convenient to annotate pdf files and via the xml file found in the docdata directory, retrieve the annotations via another application. To speed the process though, it would be very nice to be able to select some text, copy it and then be able to paste directly into a note for future retrieval using other applications. A deluxe feature would be able to open a pdf file using Okular at the point where the note was placed on initial reading via a command line option. The reason I am focusing on the note annotation instead of just a highlighted one is that in the xml file, the highlight only reports the position of the highlight, not the text that was highlighted. Having highlighted text available in the xml file would also solve this problem and would eliminate the need in my use case, but it would still be a useful option as it allows commentary on the copied text. Being able to open a pdf directly to a highlighted passage would also be excellent.

I too would love this feature, for similar reasons. Highlighting creates a text-less annotation, but if an option could be implemented to allow for automatic copying of the highlighted text into its annotation, that would save me much time and hassle. Thank you!

Hi Chris, thanks for your suggestions, but can you please close this bug and open one bug for each suggestion? If you put lots of suggestions in the same bug it makes it very hard to follow which stuff has been implemented or not or which stuff we think it's doable/sane or not.

Thanks for that, appreciated :-)
