- What I was doing when the application crashed:
In this particular case I trying out the KDE desktop to see how it works. But the bug occurred even when I used KDE for the very first time without having changed anything yet to the appearance of the desktop. The bug occurs when I click on Add panel > Default panel.

- Unusual behavior I noticed:
When I started KDE for the very first time the desktop was empty. There were no icons on the desktop, there were no panels or toolbars. The background image did show up. The only thing I could click on was the box in the upper right corner which said " Desktop". From there I added empty panels because default panels would crash. Such an empty desktop I consider unusual behaviour. Another unusual behaviour is when I go to Desktop Effects under System Settings and try to change the animation speed. There will be an error saying "2 desktop effects could not be loaded. For technical reasons it is not possible to determine all possible error causes. Blur effect requires OpenGL. Startup Feedback effect requires OpenGL." Another unusual behaviour is that during KDE startup, right after the fading icons are displayed, there is an error or warning message at the top of the screen. This disappears quickly, so I cannot read it. It disappears within 1 second.


- Custom settings of the application:
Even without custom settings, right out of the box, the crash occurs.
My operating system is Slackware 14.1 operating inside VirtualBox. I installed Slackware today, so this is a clean installation. This is also a full install of Slackware, which should contain all available features.

The crash can be reproduced every time.
