fedora 19 x86_64 with KDE-4.11.3. I have 7 podcasts configured and synced with gPodder (although that is probably not relevant). When the podcasts were initially configured and updated the podcast entries could be expanded to show the podcast titles for each of them. If you exit Amarok and start it again without any new podcast episodes available then expanding any podcast entry shows no episodes listed. Only the indicator changes from a right-pointer to a down-pointer. When new episodes for a podcast become available the star indicator appears and the podcast entry may be expanded with the episode titles are shown. Once you exit Amarok no more podcast episode titles will be seen until a new episode is available for a podcast. This makes Amarok useless for general podcast listening.
Very strange, I can't reproduce this here at all. Could you please give an example of a subscription you have? FWIW: I have several subscriptions and see all titles, regardless if there are new episodes or not. I also can expand them without having to update the subscription. Using v2.8.0-98-g36e63e9, but AFAIK there were no changes in the Podcast code since the 2.8 release except for the fix of bug 283022
Created attachment 83615 [details] My podcast subscriptions (gpodder.net OPML export) I have attached my podcast subscription OPML which I downloaded from gpodder.net. Checking my Amarok podcast storage directories, they only seem to contain the feed images there have been no episodes downloaded. I am not sure if this is a fedora-specific bug relating to the Amarok mysql subsystem. It may not have transitioned through a mysql update properly. If you wish, I can archive my Amarok configuration and delete the settings and re-initialise Amarok to see if that fixes the problem.
OK I have investigated this further. I archived my Amarok configuration then wiped it and restarted Amarok. I activated the gPodder plugin and my podcasts appeared with episodes listed and starred. I then exited Amarok and started it again and the podcasts were back in the same failed state as mentioned before. Actually it seems to be a UI/Action problem. When you click or right click the podcast title the UI does what it should but it appears the underlying action is not being executed. Left-clicking the podcast title rotates the arrow indicator but the episode list is not shown. Right-clicking the podcast title does not activate the contextual menu. It is as if the signals are not being sent to activate the UI element actions.
Thank you for the feedback. Setting back to general as it is a UI issue
Still unable to reproduce with Amarok v2.8.0-354-g4b3eaac
Setting correct component
