Description dmatt 2013-11-13 20:00:13 UTC
Situation: notebook hp 8470w in docking station (lid closed) connected to two FullHD external monitors (connected via VGA a Displayport).
Bios post is shown on both monitors, glowing Kubuntu logo as well, than both monitors lose signal and login prompt dialog is nowhere to be seen. If I open notebook, login dialog is shown on nb display (and only there). After login during KDE splash screen all three displays work. When I close notebook, system suspends. After wake only two external monitors are on, as originally intented.

Workaround: simply enter password into blank screen, it is accepted even though nothing is shown anywhere. At the beginning of the splash screen both external monitor turn on and from that moment session is OK.

If I remember correctly, if there is only one external monitor connected, login dialog is visible on external monitor. I am not sure so I am going to test properly again.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. put notebook into docking station
2. connest 2 external monitors
3. start boot
4, login prompt is not shown on external monitors
Actual Results:
login prompt is not displayed on connected external monitors, even though it is still functional

Expected Results:
login prompt is displayed on external monitors when notebook lid is closed

Kubuntu 13.10, KDE 4.11.2, lightdm 1.8.4-0ubuntu1, radeon driver

We no longer use lightDM, having moved to SDDM several years ago. As such, this bug report is no longer applicable. Bugs reports for the new SDDM-based login screen should be filed to one of two places:

1. Visual/UI bugs with the login screen UI itself, or feature requests: plasmashell | Theme - Breeze
2. Bugs with the login/user switching process: https://github.com/sddm/sddm/issues
