Description Eric Renfro 2013-11-11 14:30:58 UTC
Autogroup by ID is not working on existing windows or newly created windows from an existing application.

The problem was experienced while trying to setup an autogroup with Skype and Pidgin. Pidgin works just fine, however, Skype, because it loads up with an initial window usually used for login, then closes that while spawning the userlist window, it does not get the autogroup rule applied, however it gets other rules, like positioning/size rules.

Just as cross reference about applying rules to skype:
bug #231524, bug #252255 and bug #187539

Unfortunately the rework in decorations in KWin 5 resulted in the window tabbing feature to be lost. We still want to bring this feature back, but after several versions it still hasn't emerged yet. Given that I think it is time to adjust the status of this bug report. The new implementation would be different anyway and it's questionable whether this report would still apply to it.
