Description Fabio Coatti 2013-10-29 11:25:14 UTC
I have several folders related to a remote server (imap offline); when I start kmail the inbox message list shows all messages, but if I click on another folder (that in my case has more than 10.000 messages, called archive) it shows only the last (most recent) 3/4 messages.
Note: all messages are also stored locally.
If I shut down kmail and restart it, kmail shows the complete message list (the last folder is shown at startup, in this case the archive folder that was showing only the latest messages).
It is quite repeatable: basically I enter kde, enter kmail and switch to "archive" folder, i get only few messages. Close kmail, restart it... and all messages appears magically.

Reproducible: Always

Gentoo packages
kde 4.11.2
gcc 4.8.1
qt 4.8.5
linux x86_64 3.11.6

Hi

I am experiencing something that is not exactly the same. I believe, however, that it is related.
I also am using IMAP with local storage and disconected mode.
From times to times one of the folders shows less (or more) messages then the real thing. In one case the number of messages was correct but some headers are wrong (are duplicates of some of them and hide the real ones) and the contents are void. Restarting kmail restores the correct behavior for a wile.

debian testing
kde 4:4.11.3 from repositories
qt 4:4.8.5 from repositories

Hi,

same problem here. But it I do not use dIMAP, I use only "online" IMAP. I have a gmail account that has one "huge" folder with 2.400 mails, that is affected by this behaviour. I already removed the account from kmail, deleted the IMAP akonadi agent and recreated everything. The behaviour is reproducible. Lets call this special folder, that shows the wrong behaviour, folder "F" in the following:

Steps to reproduce:

1) Start KMail in the INBOX folder that has some new mails.
2) Switch to folder "F". The message list appears empty. But if one points the mouse to "F" in the folder tree, the tool tip says "x unread messages, y read messages" with correct x and y.
2) Move these mails from the INBOX folder to folder "F". Switch to folder "F". The previously moved messages appear in the message list, but only those.
3) Switching to another folder and switching back to "F" still only shows theses messages.
4) Switch to another folder.
5) Restart Kmail, Kmails restarts and shows the other folder.
6) Switch to folder "F" again. The message list is empty again. The tooltip is OK. Even those messages, that were moved to "F" in the previous session disappeared.
7) Restart Kmail a second time, but this time stay in folder "F".
8) Folder "F" shows all messages. Now one can switch around between different folders. Folder "F" stays OK. At least until the next start of Kmail that has another folder pre-selected.

Some more observations:

This behaviour also happens with any other folder as soon as there are more messages than something around 2.000. If Kmail starts with this folder pre-selected everyhing is OK. If Kmail starts with another folder, the affected folder appears emtpy but for those messages that were inserted in this folder during the same session.

Fabio, Pedro, Matthias, thank you for your report and comments. They are related to a version of KMail which uses Nepomuk and is unmaintained. Thus closing. If it still happens with a recent version of KMail (KDEPIM 4.14 or if you can already getit 15.08) please reopen the bug and provide which version you tried it with and please provide the exact steps to reproduce (if they are different from what Matthias wrote). Thank you, Martin
