Description Marcus Harrison 2013-10-25 07:07:44 UTC
Selecting File-->Import Wallet... opens the file open dialogue. Selecting the wallet file from the dialogue prompts the password for that file. The password is entered correctly. After this, nothing else happens. Passwords that are in the wallet file selected, but not in the current wallet, are not imported. The old dialogue prompt whether to skip or replace existing entries does not appear. Attempting to import the wallet file again does not prompt for a password and nothing happens.

Reproducible: Always

confirmed with 4.12 compiled from sources

Can you reproduce this in 4.14? Is this related to #338517
Comment 3 Marcus Harrison 2014-10-01 20:56:46 UTC
Funnily enough, having observed some pretty large changes to KWallet I attempted to reproduce this with a simple test case:

1. Using File-->Save As... to save my wallet to transferable media

2. Transferring the saved file to a new computer also running 4.14

3. Using the File-->Import Wallet... option to attempt to import the wallet file.

However, this failed because a new .salt file is needed, which I assume is mixed with the password in the encryption/decryption process. The wallet file saved with the Save As... option would not accept the correct password.

$ kwalletmanager --version
Qt: 4.8.6
KDE: 4.14.0
KDE-Passwortverwaltung: 2.0

Now I get the error mentioned in #338517 (Error code -9)

Reopening based on recent feedback.
Comment 6 Marcus Harrison 2014-10-28 11:26:41 UTC
I would like to ask quickly - why is a salt needed in this context?
