I am using Ubuntu 12.04 (64 bit). I downloaded and installed KMyMoney 4.6.1 through the Ubuntu Software Center. I was previously using Quicken running through WINE. I imported the QIC files with no problem. However, I simply cannot get KMyMoney to print checks. The plugin is there and active. If I go into the plugin tools it tells me I need a check template. Which I do not have. I use pre-printed checks from Deluxe - sheets with 3 wallet sized checks per sheet. I am trying to get away from using windows programs like Quicken, but I cannot do it with KMyMoney if it won't print checks. Please help. I need step-by-step instructions. Reproducible: Always
Are you going to respond to my printing issue, or should I just continue to use Quicken? At the moment, you have to create the check template yourself. If you cannot do it, and the feature is a priority, then maybe it's better to wait until there is a set of templates that includes your bank checks.
I use standard Deluxe wallet checks - 3 to a page. Surely there is a template for these. I have no idea where to get it. These are the two templates currently available. https://projects.kde.org/projects/extragear/office/kmymoney/repository/revisions/master/changes/kmymoney/plugins/printcheck/check_template.html https://projects.kde.org/projects/extragear/office/kmymoney/repository/revisions/master/entry/kmymoney/plugins/printcheck/check_template_green_linen.html
Have a look at http://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=69&t=111590. There is a little information there, pointing to the location of the present templates, but which should be (at least here) /usr/share/kde4/apps/kmm_printcheck. It also mentions - "How to trigger the check printing? After selecting a transaction in the ledger use the 'Transaction'->'Print check' action." You could try experimenting, presumably using blank paper initially!
