First of all, this is surely in the wrong category. Sorry. But, I simply couldn't find the right one. Please, move this bug into the appropriate category.

Now the problem:

My DELL Latitude E6330 runs plugged in to a docking station with a second monitor attached, most of the time. Occasionally I need to unplug it, to discuss with a colleague with my laptop somewhere else. When I come back and plug the laptop back into the docking station a dialog appears that asks me whether I want to automatically, or manually reconfigure the display. The automatic configuration is not what I want, so I pick manual. As soon, as I do that, the keyboard layout indicator switches from my current user layout, to the system layout (tty1-6).

For my user layout I have 'US, international AltGr Unicode combing' as default, and Russian as a second layout. The tty setting is us-intl. So, before plugging the laptop into the docking station the layout indicator shows 'us', and after the screen config dialog pops up it shows us-intl. My layout switch shortcut (right shift + right ctrl) still works, however the indicator widget doesn't change anymore, and clicking on it doesn't change the layout anymore.

A workaround is to right click the widget, click 'configure...', untick 'show layout indicator', click 'apply', tick 'show layout indicator' again, and press 'apply'. Now, the indicator works again as expected. I.e. shows layout changes by short-cut. And clicking on it also changes the layout.

I'd be happy if you fixed this problem.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Have more than one keyboard layout, and the first layout differ from the tty one.
2a. Remove your laptop from the docking station.
2b. Plug it back in, and open screen settings dialog. (Does not happen if you just open the settings.)
3. Observe the layout indicator. (Change some screen settings, if nothing happened, yet)
4. The layout indicator should now have switched to your tty layout. It doesn't switch between your user layouts anymore, and also doesn't display changes due to keyboard short-cut, which should still work.
5. Workaround by switching keyboard indicator off, and on as explained in details.
Actual Results:
Keyboard indicator shows tty layout, doesn't display changes due to keyboard shurt-cut, and doesn't switch layouts when clicked on.

Expected Results:
It should not change the current layout. Most certainly not to the tty layout. And it should indicate changes due to keyboard short-cut, and switch layout when clicked on.
