Currently there is a kio recentdocuments:/ that shows recently opened files and folder. What would be really useful would be a kio workingfolders:/ that show all working folders *currently* in use by all applications. This would allow easy access to working folders by any application. F.i. you could open 10 tabs in a single dolphin window each with a different folder, and then easily access the folder from kate, libreoffice etc. without the need to traverse the path again. Reproducible: Always This would require each application to publish it current working folder, f.i. through it's file open dialog box. The workingfolder kio would need to be to get this from all publishers and remove the duplicates.
An interesting idea, but not sure this is technically feasible, sorry.
