Description hous_jock 2013-09-29 19:48:35 UTC
Every couple of minutes KMyMoney pops up a Consistency Check Result error window:
"*Potential problem wiht investments/currencies
*the investment 'JP MORGAN INCOME BUILDER FUND CL' has not price set for the opening date '2013-09-02'.
Please enter a price for the investment on or before the opening date."
This is repeated for 28 investments, all reported on '2013-09-02'.
However, I can find no entries for 2013-09-02, and all entries I have checked include a price.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. While entering transactions in another ledger
2. When the Consistency Check is run manuall
3.
Actual Results:
click the "OK" button and continue with what I was doing before I was interrupted.

Expected Results:
The error should report what the problem is and where to go to fix it (a clickable link to the transaction would be ideal).
Believing the consistency check is producing false errors, not interrupting my work at all would be great.

This potential bug is a deal breaker. I cannot be intterupted during entry of every transaction in a ledger.

I have a screen shot of the error window, but do not see anywhere to upload it.

Version 4.6.1 (was not an option above)

You are likely to have problems importing transactions (dates) prior to
the opening date of the account concerned. Go to Accounts view and edit
your files concerned to have a opening date prior to the earliest date
in the file.

Regarding the screen shot - below the "additional comments" section near the bottom of the bugzilla page, there is an "add an attachment" link.

I have not played with this area in a long time, but I seem to recall that the system wants to have a price for a stock/equity on or before the first date it knows about that stock, which may be an account opening date, or the date that equity was added, if the first transaction for that stock has a later date. Manually adding a price for the requested date may be necessary to make KMM happy.

I'll make a note to add this to the manual, as soon as we get more clarity on exactly what is needed.

I went to Accounts, selected the account, Edit account..., General and under Opening Information, tried to select 05/15/013 (it had been 05/31/2013), and clicked OK, but I got the following error:

Error message: Unable to modify account 'Account Name'. Cause: Invalid transaction id "

Please advise.

Comment 4 Thomas Baumgart 2013-12-27 12:43:17 UTC
As Jack proposed: Please enter a manual price for the stock/investment in question using Tools/Prices for the date requested in the warning message. To reduce the number of messages popping up, turn off the auto-save feature (which seems to be set for every change you make). Please report back.
