Description Trevor 2013-09-23 17:38:44 UTC
Cantor will not run Sage; shift + enter does nothing and syntax is not properly colored for integers etc. Sage is properly installed and runs fine from the terminal. The Cantor settings are properly directed to: /usr/bin/sage

This bug has also been reported by numerous users on the Ubuntu forums:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2130264

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Cantor
2. Select Sage Backend
3. Sage will not function

this looks like a duplicate of Bug 316299. What version of Sage are you using? Can you try it again with the Cantor version that comes with KDE 4.11?
Comment 2 Trevor 2013-09-23 18:18:42 UTC
I saw that bug, but I am not sure if this is a duplicate since I receive no error message. Cantor simply does nothing at all.

I am using Sage 5.11 and Cantor 0.4. Is 0.4 not the newest version that comes with KDE?
Comment 3 Alexander Rieder 2013-09-23 18:24:24 UTC
unfortunately I repeadetly forget to bump version numbers for bugfixes, so there is a version 0.4 with the bug and one without it. What version does the "About KDE" dialog say?
Other than that, can you run kdebugdialog and enable cantor there, then run cantor from the command line using "cantor --backend=sage &>cantor.log" and then attach the cantor.log file, so I can see whats going on?

4.10.5 is the latest version in the ubuntu package database. Is there some other way to update to 4.11? Thanks for your help

upgraded to 4.10.97 and Sage works fine now. Thanks for your help!
