I've got multiply user account and when I want to switch between users that are already logged in all I see is a black screen with a pointer. The same happens if I switch to console mode (Ctrl+Alt+F1) and back. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 0. Needs system with at least two user accounts 1. Log in as a 1st user. 2. Choose K-> End (the last icon to the right, I don't use the English localisation) -> Switch user (run parallel session as a different user). 3. Log in as the other user to a new session. 4. Switch back to the first user's session via Ctr+Alt+Fn Actual Results: The screen of the first user's session is black with a pointer. Not possible to do anything in this session.Sometimes it's not even possible to go back to the other user's session and a computer rebooting is required. Expected Results: Want to be able to run multiply users sessions and to switch among them. nvidia GeForce GT 430 card NVIDIA Driver Version: 313.30 KDE 4.11.1 Asrock Z68 Pro3 motherboard with UEFI Intel onboard card disabled in UEFI
I've reported a bug for kdm but it also applies to lightdm. All the steps and results are the same.
Could be a duplicate of bug 324330. Also, with a recent update in openSUSE Factory (which among others, updated xorg-server 1.14.2 to 1.14.3) I even get a black xdm login screen, so I doubt there is a kdm bug.
Also happening here on Arch Linux and KDE 4.11.2. Manual/automatic time-out screen locks work normally. Switch user locks do not. Even with the black screen, it seems I can still blind-type Alt+P followed by the password to unlock the session.
KDM is unmaintained and not used in KDE Plasma 5. SDDM is the login manager used in KDE Plasma 5. If you still have this same issue with SDDM, please file an issue on the SDDM bugtracker (after doing a search for existing issues first!): https://github.com/sddm/sddm/issues/
