Description Andreas Hermann 2013-09-13 21:27:57 UTC
This happens only in the Open File Dialog when right clicking on the Desktop and selecting View->Open to select a wallpaper. Additionally it appears only if the Ogygen Theme is used:
If i move the mouse pointer over the border to the 'Places' panel, the pointer as expected changes into a horizontal double sided arrow, so i can enlarge the panel. But if i move the pointer back to any area of the dialog window, the pointer does not change back to normal. This happens only in this one dialog, any other open file dialog is not affected.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Right click on the desktop (Folder Layout), select 'Folder Settings' -> 'View' and click on 'Open' to choose a wallpaper
2. Move the mouse to the left over the border to the 'Places' panel, unti it changes to a horizontal double sided arrow to enlarge the panel
3. Move the pointer back to the area where the pictures are shown or to the buttons 'OK' /'Cancel'
Actual Results:
The mouse pointer does not change back to normal form, it stays in the form of a double sided arrow

Expected Results:
The mouse pointer should turn back to normal form (pointer)

This is not critical but somehow strange, i hope someone can reproduce this behaviour. I'm using gentoo and I tried to start with a fresh plasma workspace (new user), i even tried this on a live usb stick with other distributions. Fedora showed the same behaviour but in OpenSuse it did not happen.

Can you post a screenshot of the whole thing ? notably the menu from which you select the guilty dialog ? I can't seem to find it here. (hence, no chance at reproducing).

Also, what is your setting for window borders, in oxygen window decoration options ?
If it is "no side borders" can you still reproduce when using a larger one ?

Thanks,

Hugo

Hi Hugo,

thanks for the answer. I attached a little video (screencast) which shows the problem I'm facing. I think that is more useful than a screenshot.
Regarding my settings for the oxygen window decoration, i use the "normal" side borders. But i just tried any other option, it doesn't change anything.
Thanks,

Andreas

Strange indeed. Will investigate.

Hi Hugo, any progress on this?
Comment 6 Hugo Pereira Da Costa 2013-11-26 11:28:16 UTC
... yes and no ...
I have figured out that this happen for all dialogs that are launched from "plasma-desktop".
This is due to a "leave event" (normally used to untrigger the splitter grab) that do not reach oxygen. I do not know yet the reason for it. I suspect some application wise event filter that eats it, but have not found it yet.

Will keep you posted.
