When using the search (find) from the menu or by pressing "CTRL+F" I get no results with any setting. As soon as I enter the first letter in the search field, the whole results field is emptied. When I delete every single letter or key from the searchfield the results field stays empty. Filtering with the filter bar works though. I checked every setting for the search function - the result is alwayds empty. I know that there are many bugs with the search in dolphin but I haven't found this one - the others all seem to be more specific. This one, the bug I am describing, is very general: The whole nepomuksearch in dolphin seems not to work at all though all of nepomuk is enabled. I don't see how it is possible to work with a system without file search. That is why I set this bug to high severity ... sorry if I misssed that this is a duplicate after all. thx for reading, p. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Ctrl + F 2. enter any search string (one letter is enough!) 3. the results field (the normal file list) is emptied immidiatly - the only way to get the files and folders list back is to close the search ... Actual Results: no search results Expected Results: a list of files and folders matching the search criteria
Thanks for the bug report. (In reply to comment #0) > The whole nepomuksearch in dolphin seems > not to work at all though all of nepomuk is enabled. The Nepomuk search has its own Bugzilla component - I'll reassign this report (which is not reproducible for me, BTW).
A suggestion in the forum led to me assuming that it's Not the nepomuksearch but the normal search function as well (as searching for filenames doesn't work either) ... my assumption right now is that this happened while updating to the newest version: When I set up a new user it seems to work ... So I am sorry if I misinterpreted what's happening. Let me restate: While updating KDE I lost the search funcionality of dolphin, but with setting up a new user it seems to work. Sorry for any inconvenience, probably this is not such a bad problem as I thought (which is a good thing), thx for your notice, piedro (should I delete this?) thx, p.
I bet you updated virtuoso to 6.1.7 and then downgraded again. On upgrade, the db changed, and downgrading broke it. It happened to me. Clear your nepomuk db, let it re-index, and everything will work again. See https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/36801#comment114152
Sadly now on KDE applications 5.12 and plasma 5.5 dolphin search still does not work. Please look into it - a file browser without search doesn't work at all for many users ... p.
