Description brian.zbr 2013-09-13 01:24:52 UTC
After installing Okular, a "file:" link to a PDF in Emacs org-mode is opened in Okular, even if the variable, "org-file-apps" specifies "default" and Okular is not set as a default viewer in Gnome.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Ensure that Okular is not the default viewer in Gnome, and that "org-file-apps" in Emacs specifies "default" option for PDF files.
2. Create a "file:" link to a PDF in an org-mode file in Emacs and launch the link.
Actual Results:
PDF opens in Okular

Expected Results:
PDF should open in the Gnome default viewer, generally Document Viewer (evince).

Not sure exactly what this means, but according to the emacs documentation, setting the org-files-app to the value "default" tells emacs the following:

"Use the default application for this file type, which is the association for t in the list, most likely in the system-specific part. This can be used to overrule an unwanted setting in the system-specific variable."

I don't see how we hijack anything, sincerely, i'd ask the emacs devels what this is happening not us.

I'm going to close this bug since you don't seem to provide any real data on how are we hijacking anything.

If you can come up with a reasonable explanation of what we do wrong we'll be happy to fix it.
