Immediately after installing Debian7 All text labels in all windows, decorations, menus, konsole, etc. are so small they are greeked and illegible. Makes it retardedly difficult to fix since I can't even read the menus to figure out what I'm pressing or answer popups. Please see screenshot. Creating .Xdefaults with Xft.dpi:DPI96 allows me to view most of the content inside windows, but everything else in window decorations, taskbar, notifications and menus are still garbled. This is a show stopper for most people trying KDE out for the first time. Anyone not familiar with CLI will immediately toss it since graphical front end is pretty much useless this way. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install it. 2. 3. Actual Results: Tiny font. Can't use most of the system. Don't know what the icons, menu, descriptions, etc. are. See screenshot. Expected Results: Readable font. Fresh install should not leave the user with unusual interface. Please let me know if you need particular log files. I can get around the system but my knowledge is broad, not deep.

What DPI does your graphics driver report? To find out, type this in a Konsole window: xdpyinfo | grep inch
Thanks for your prompt reply. I thought it would be months before anyone would respond, judging by some of the threads I've been reading about problems of this type :P. Major overhaul in X and deprecated configs, etc.? Interesting developments since I been away from this stuff. $xdpyinfo|grep inch resolution: 30x30 dots per inch I have a feeling this has something to do with my graphics card, though I didn't have this much trouble with some of the other linux flavors. Ubuntu, Mint and 2 others came up with very poorly support drivers for fglrx (ati hd7750), but it was a small matter to click a choice on a popup panel and reboot. I am currently tracking down many complaints about this particular set of drivers. However, I still feel the KDE environment should default to something usable on fresh installs. After using .Xdefaults to enable some work, I manage to do get a round of updates and now the only thing missing is the login screen fonts. I can also tell the display is very "brutish". The colors are very saturated, contrasted, too bright. ________________________________ From: Christoph Feck <christoph@maxiom.de> To: blushonine@yahoo.com Sent: Monday, September 9, 2013 8:16 PM Subject: [kde] [Bug 324697] Fresh Install Debian7+KDE Can't Read Font Tiny Small https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=324697 Christoph Feck <christoph@maxiom.de> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |christoph@maxiom.de Component|general |general Assignee|manutortosa@chakra-project. |unassigned-bugs@kde.org |org | Product|kde-gtk-config |kde --- Comment #2 from Christoph Feck <christoph@maxiom.de> --- What DPI does your graphics driver report? No response; assuming it was fixed in a later Debian version.
