Since I upgraded from 4.11.0 to 4.11.1 I can no longer kde-open an .xls file without a dialog asking me: There is no application installed that can open files of the type Microsoft Excel Worksheet (application/vnd.ms-excel). Do you want to try to install one? Of course I did not change the file association. application/vnd.ms-excel is still linked to LibreOffice calc When I select "No" in that dialog, libreoffice is launched and calc shows the document without any problem. So it's just that dialog that pops up, which did not happen in 4.11.0 Reproducible: Always

Could be issue as described here: http://lists.kde.org/?l=kde-core-devel&m=138178759224330&w=2 ?
It seems the issue was solved with 4.11.3
