Question related to bug #324392: I could not find an easy (convenient) way to resize maximized windows horizontally. (Alternatively: Is it possible to re-enable full window decorations also for full-screen windows in KDE 4.11 (ie. restore the KDE <= 4.10 behaviour)?) I'm really used to resizing a maximized window to halb/one-third screen width by dragging its border if I need space next to it, which is not possible if there simply *is* no border... That's a bit awkward, how are you supposed to quickly resize the width of a full-screen window in KDE 4.11? First un-maximizing it, then re-maximizing it vertically, then moving it to the left or right of the screen and then resizing it to the desired width does not really sound like a viable alternative... Reproducible: Always
Why don't you just use the quick tile feature (either mouse or global shortcut)? Also you can just middle click the maximize button to maximize the window vertically.
My use case is making a window horizontally smaller which currently already is maximized; I do this quite often. (Using a maximized application and then I need to put some window containing some information next to it, so I first make the maximized window thinner to the desired width, keeping it vertically maximized, and then place the new window next to it or hope if opens next to it automatically thanks to the window placement strategy in effect.) Quick tile feature: Dragging the window against the screen border? Ok, this may be a better workaround, but it's still more work than just fetching and dragging the window border until I'm satisfied. (I have to drag the whole window and then still resize the window's width if I do not want it to be 50% of the screen.) I know maximization by right or middle-clicking and use it all the time, an invaluable feature! :-)
