Description see3ducks 2013-09-01 17:38:12 UTC
I'm brand new to this so please excuse where I put this.
Linux Mint 15 KDE Olivia
update managr failing
1.6 G processor
1GB RAM

when I select update manager, the system asks for a password and then nothing happens.
The is no error messages

this "used" to work, then got worse and worse and finally quit. Again, no error message

Please ask in the forum of your distribution about the name of the Update Manager (Muon, Apper, etc.).
Comment 2 see3ducks 2013-09-02 19:54:40 UTC
I have been unable or don't know how to find the name up the update manager
for my Mint 15 KDE Olivia. No one at Mint has responded. I got an email
from someone wondering if this could be the problem -
http://www.ubuntuupdates.org/package/core/precise/main/proposed/update-manager-kdeas
the package was apparently moved. I'm stumped.
Thanks,
Steve

Comment 4 Christoph Feck 2013-09-03 01:28:46 UTC
Thanks for the update. Have fun :)
Comment 5 see3ducks 2013-09-03 03:21:35 UTC
I hate to admit it, but I was wrong. The update manager came up after
doing the sudo apt-get update, sudo apt-det dist-grade. Then when I turned
the computer back on it would not do anything again.

I tried to run both processes again, and the update manager still would not
work.

I am wondering if is not starting because it is now up to date. Ideas?

I will try to get more information from Mint, but so far I have been unable
to get an answer. I did run sudo apt-cache policy mintUpdate and got:
   mintupdate:
      Installed: 4.5.2
      Candidate: 4.5.2
      Version table:
*** 4.5.2.0
            700 http://packages.linuxmint.com/ olivia/main 1386 Packages
            100 /var/lib/status

That's all I have and I don't suppose that is enough. I will try again
tomorrow to get you more.

Thanks,
Steve

Comment 6 see3ducks 2013-09-03 14:28:22 UTC
I was told "
MintUpdate 4.5.2 (and MintInstall 7.4.8 Software manager)

It's not Muon or Apper. The Software managing pack in Mint seems to be a
customized version of the Muon "suite"

Comment 7 Christoph Feck 2013-09-03 16:09:46 UTC
Okay, then you should report issues with the Update manager to the bug tracker of your distribution.
Comment 8 see3ducks 2013-09-03 17:37:44 UTC
