Before kde 4.11, the picture displayed as the icon of a folderview widget inside a panel reflected the same picture displayed by dolphin (taken from the .directory file). Now it displays the default folder icon depsite any .directory file in the same folder. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. make a folder 2. set a picture for it 3. add a folderview widget to a panel 4. set it to display the content of the folder at step 1. Actual Results: 5. see that the picture displayed on the widget does not reflect the one you choose in step 2. Expected Results: folderview should show the picture specified in the .directory file.
4.11.2 the issue is the same. However, i noticed that the icon picked is the one from the up folder. EG: if i have a folder named "Audio" with the icon of a microphone placed on the desktop folder and i drag the audio folder to the panel, then the folderview on the panel will get the desktop icon instead of the microphone one.
I noticed that I can drag a directory to a panel, select Folder and the correct icon displays. However, upon reboot the icons are all of the Home directory, and panel icons were rearranged (different issue, I sure, which I haven't explored yet).
Also seeing this on 4.11.4, icon is set as per parent folder, or home folder depending on how it is created on the panel. Drag from a folder on the desktop folderview and it uses the 'desktop' icon. Drag from same folder in Dolphin & it uses home folder icon.

Hello! This bug report was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this bug has already been resolved in Plasma 5. Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this bug report. If the issue described here is still present in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging Thanks for your understanding!
