Description roland_raab 2013-08-12 10:09:24 UTC
fcitx 4.2.0 chinese input does not work with libreoffice 3.5.7 on KDE
System: Kubuntu 12.4
fcitx works fine with other programs like Firefox
In the Taksbar there is an Icon where it is possible to switch the input Method by clicking the icon. When the libreoffice window is active the input method can not be swiched to chinese. The icon is just inactive. There ist no failure notice or whatsoever.
I googled the problem. It seems that in Gnome these Programs work perfect together. The problem occurs only in distributions with KDE surface. There are also hints to the solution of the problem but since have only user knowlege about Linux i dont know how to impelment the solution.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open LibreOffice
2. Open fcitx
3. Click on Taskbar icon of fcitx (Keyboard as Symbol) or press ctrl+space

Actual Results:
> icon is not highlighted and chinese input does not work. The input language stays to the normal keyboard function

Expected Results:
highlight the icon (keyboard icon) in taskbar and active chinese input method

LibreOffice Chinese language already activated still the problem occurs

Neiter fcitx nor libreoffice are developed by the KDE community, so there is nothing we can do, unless their developers see a and report the bug in KDE.

If you have installed libreoffice-kde4 integration package and tested newest versions (for example, there is already libreoffice 4.1), and it still does not work, please report this to their bug trackers.
