Description Andreas Hochsteger 2001-09-10 20:40:32 UTC
(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***)

Package: kjobviewer
Version: 0.1 (using KDE 2.2.0 )
Severity: wishlist
Installed from: SuSE
Compiler: gcc version 2.95.2 19991024 (release)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.9-ac4
OS/Compiler notes:

It sometimes happens that I have a lot of old jobs in the printing queue (due to offline printer) which I want to print when the printer gets online and therefore want to have a look at the contents of the jobs if I can delete some duplicates or old jobs. Since most of them are postscript anywhere it would simply be a launch of kghostview with the spool file but perhaps the possibility for other viewers should be provided.

I don't know if it will be possible as most often the PS data is stored by the
spooler in a directory that's not publicly readable. However this suggestion is
interesting andn I'll have a look at it. Which print system are you using?

Michael.

I'm using cups (SuSE 7.1) and the ps files are located at /var/spool/cups/.

A clean implementation depends on CUPS adding support for this. See also CUPS "Request for Enhancement" here: http://cups.org/str.php?L118+P0+S-2+C0+I10+E0+Qjob

Reassigning to printer-applet.

KDEPrint in KDE3 is now unmaintained and no new features will be added. KDE4 no longer uses KDEPrint, jobviewer has been replaced by printer-applet which uses system-config-printer as a backend.

This is a valid feature request which has been implemented in CUPS 1.4 (see link above) and which could be added to printer-applet if supported by system-config-printer.

"Printer Applet" is no longer maintained and has been replaced with "Print Manager" since KDE 4.10.

If this issue still needs to be addressed in KDE 4.10 or newer, please add a comment, or report it for "Print Manager".
