Description Maxim Therrien 2013-08-07 02:41:57 UTC
I co-own an minecraft server, which includes FTP access to the config files. Bukkit (the minecraft server) is all configured in YAML. Whenever I try to open a .yml file either in konqueror or in Dolphin, it opens it as a folder, containing only one file (the .yml file I clicked), in a new window. When I try opening the .yml file from this fake folder, Kate says it could not load the file. My workaround is to right-click the file in question when it isn't opened in a "fake folder" , and select "open with", and open it with Kate. It might also happen with other types of files.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Find a .yml file on an FTP server
2.Double-click it.
3.It should open in a ghost folder, double-click it again.
Actual Results:
Kate says it can't find the file, and Dolphin / Konqueror opened the file in a fake, non-existing folder, that goes by the name of the file.

Expected Results:
Open the file normally with Kate

Thanks for the report.

1. What is your exact KDE version?
2. What happens if you disable "Open archives as folder" in the "Navigation" section of the settings?
3. Could you attach a .yml file?

I can't reproduce it with Dolphin 4.10.97, tested with a custom yaml file.

Please reopen if you still see this problem in Dolphin 4.11.0 or later, and provide a file that can be used to reproduce the problem. Thanks.

It only happens with Dolphin, only on this FTP server. Any other client works all right, and Dolphin works all right on other servers.

Does this still happen? If not, I'll close this bug soon.
Comment 6 Julian Steinmann 2018-04-15 16:12:57 UTC
No response -> closing, probably not a problem with Dolphin but rather with the FTP server. Thanks for reporting this bug, please reopen the report if you can still reproduce this behavior with newer versions of Dolphin.
