You are not using recent original software, I recommend you to first upograde to recent original cdrtools from ftp.berlios.de/pub/cdrecord/alpha/
Dear Bug Submitter, This bug has been stagnant for a long time. Could you help us out and re-test if the bug is valid in the latest version? I am setting the status to NEEDSINFO pending your response, please change the Status back to REPORTED when you respond. Thank you for helping us make KDE software even better for everyone!
Did you consider to warn people in case they are using this fake program "wodim" instead of the original "cdrtools"? "wodim" has been created by Debian in May 2004 with the background that some uninformed people at Debian believed, sending SCSI commands works without root privileges. As a result, the Debian people removed all sanity checks from the source code after Linux came up with an incompatible SCSI kernel interface change that allowed **some** SCSI commands to be send without root privileges. As a result from both changes, the fake code from Debian succeeded in some cases without root privileges and failed in many other cases, resulting in a very unreliable behavior. Finally, the Debian people stopped working on that program in May 2007 and as a result, you may today safely consider this "wodim" as an artefact of a social attack initiated by some unfriendly Debian people. People who have been interested in reliable software always used the original software instead of that fake program from Debian. This applies even to non-technical people: 10 years ago, one of the chiefs from Bundeskrimialamt asked me "Why do I need to compile cdrtools myself in order to get working CD/DVD/BD burning software?", so the constraints are well known, just many people don't know the background. So I believe that people who have "wodim" instead of cdrecord, "genisoimage" instead of mkisofs, ... should be warned about the bugs in the installed software and deserve a hint to the original software.
