Hi devs! After the talk with Ramon, Animtim, David, mifth on IRC we decided to make a feature requst for Brush Icons. At present, we have to create a new icon every time. Than's no good. We need a possibility to select an icon from a presets dialog. We need a button to select an Icon: http://i.imgur.com/KF8PHx8.png This button can do: - Select a Custom PNG Image as an Icon. - Select an image from a list of icon presets (new window). Icon presets will be put into Krita. And user can select an icon. Icons will be like David and Ramon do their icons. We just need to make them possible to select in the dialog. Just not to create new icon every time: http://community.kde.org/Krita/Brushes_Preset_Preview http://wstaw.org/m/2013/07/22/Selection_039.jpg http://wstaw.org/m/2013/07/22/Selection_042.jpg http://wstaw.org/m/2013/07/22/Selection_043.jpg
Created attachment 81263 [details] Mockup for the modal dialog to choose an icon I join to this feature request a mockup of the modal dialog to choose an icon.
I have another approach how i actually deal with this shown on the attached image. The Idea behind this was to make something like a "Brush Creation Kit".... Instead (or in Addtion) of choosing a png i would prefer some kind of Dialog to add 1.) a Frame 2.) a predefined Icon 3.) a short Text. In a Gui like this: [Checkbox] Frame -> enables [Radiobutton] x Foreground x Background x Gradient [Checkbox] Icon (Brushtype) -> enables [Radiobutton] x Upper Left Corner x Upper Right Corner [Checkbox] Icon (Custom) -> Enables [Button] to choose a File [Checkbox] Text -> enables [4 Digit Editable Box] and [Radiobutton] x Lower Left x Center x Lower Right

Ack -- good idea. It's a wish, though, not a bug :-)
WISHGROUP: Larger Usability Fixes
I really like the ability to choose from a set of precreated icons, since a lot of users don't need to slow down to craft a nice custom icon, they just need to know the general class of tool it is. If it were still possible to draw on the icon after loading it up, that would be great, so we could add the example scribble under the icon's pen tip as many do. For myself, I would use the ability to choose a PNG file I create for it, as I do like custom icons and find them better.
we will be closer to this in Krita 4.0 with being able to load in images for your preset when saving. The save as dialog will need a bit of work to allow to give you an option to select a preset. As previously stated, we could use the template files from here ... https://community.kde.org/Krita/Brushes_Preset_Preview
This has been added yes.
