Hi, I'm using Linux Mint 14 KDE, KDE 4.9.5. When initially adding a printer within KDE settings it allows you to add a username and password. However, there appears to be no way to modify the username/password for the printer after the initial creation, or to add a username and password to a printer later. It would be great if something could be implemented to allow changing of these settings later. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Go to the printers control module 2.Click on a previously configured printer and press configure Actual Results: 3.There appears to be no way to add/change username and password Expected Results: Username/ password boxes should be available allowing modification.
The username and password are from your own user or root, not for printers, you change your local user password and the new password will be verified by CUPS too, it all depends on how your distro configured CUPS.

Sorry, maybe I should have been more specific. In some cases users will want to use a different user/pwd for printing over the network - in my case, I am printing from my own laptop over the university network to a university printer, which will only accept my university assigned username and password - which bear no relation to my local user name/pwd. There is a box in the initial KDE printer setup which allows you to add these username and passwords (Add printer > windows printer via samba, and see under authentication).
