Hi, this is a feature request to suggest a 'compact mode' for the thumbnails view. Because the room around thumbnails ( http://i.imgur.com/c8xwCr1.jpg ) could be used to display a larger collection of images, and offer an advantage over simply browse image in Dolphin ( ex : this could lead me to use Gwenview more to manage my pics, this also would depend of *.kra and *.ora image support ; bug 290528 ). Compacted thumbnails gallery for reference : a google image search ( http://i.imgur.com/SLIgc1Q.jpg ). Thanks in advance !
Seems like you can get this by turning down the size. There's a size slider in the bottom-right corner of the window in your screenshot that you can use to get more images to show up in the thumbnail view.
No thank you, this wish is specific to compact view for large thumbnail: I know I can see more thumbnails by reducing the size with the slider, but I would like to keep large thumbnails preview and not loosing all this empty space around them.
So you you want zero clearance between the photos? Can you clarify what it is you want, or maybe attach a mockup or annotated screenshot?
This is present in many KDE applications (at least Dolphin, Gwenview, and Digikam). They use a grid instead of a flow layout. But this is especially bad with Gwenview because the grid is not square, causing a bigger empty space with portrait images. Digikam uses a square grid. Nate, an image of the expected result is in comment #0.
