I just invoked the Xfce homepage with KHTML backend. At the top of the main area of that page there is a slideshow with screenshots of Xfce 4.10. These screenshots usually contain desktop icons and open windows, but in Konqueror I only see the plain desktop background (blueish with the Xfce mouse). This issue occurs with KHTML only. No such problem with Webkit backend. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Choose KHTML as backend in Konqueror. 2. Open http://xfce.org. 3. Take a look at the slideshow. 4. Choose Webkit as backend in Konqueror. 5. Repeat steps 2 and 3. 6. Compare the results of KHTML with Webkit. Actual Results: All images in the slideshow look the same (seemingly), as they are rendered incorrectly. Expected Results: Correct and complete rendering of slideshow images.
Hope, this is a bug, not a feature. As good as recent Xfce is, there's no need to block content from them in KDE apps. ;)
Bug still exists in 4.10.5.
Dear Bug Submitter, This bug has been stagnant for a long time. Could you help us out and re-test if the bug is valid in the latest version? I am setting the status to NEEDSINFO pending your response, please change the Status back to REPORTED when you respond. Thank you for helping us make KDE software even better for everyone!
Just tried it, and yes, the issue still exists with: - Konqueror 4.14.13 - KDE 4.14.32 - Slackware 14.2 64-bit with all patches up to 13th November, 2018 The slideshow is not functional. In fact, it seems that it loads all pictures included in the slideshow and displays an overlay of all of them at the same time. Again, no issues here, when Webkit is used as rendering engine. Now, the question is, what role KHTML will be playing in the future. Option 1: KHTML will be abandoned. In this case, don't put effort into fixing this (minor) bug. Option 2: KHTML development continues, in parallel with Falkon and its rendering engine. In that case it would be nice, if this issue could be fixed in a future release.
Set status to REPORTED (forgot that when I posted my last reply).
Thank you for reporting this issue in KDE software. As it has been a while since this issue was reported, can we please ask you to see if you can reproduce the issue with a recent software version? If you can reproduce the issue, please change the status to "REPORTED" when replying. Thank you!
