Description InAndOutLand 2013-05-31 00:42:38 UTC
After opening Konversation, the process terminates after a few seconds. It opens a few other processes in the few seconds, then crashes. No alert boxes. I do not see any windows come up. I am using Windows 8. I have ran kdeinit4.exe.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Install Konversation(Windows)
2.Open the file.
3.Observe in task manager.
Actual Results:
The process terminates after a few seconds

Expected Results:
The process should have stayed in memory, and a Konversation window should have of came up.

Do not know the module in whom crashed the program.

Reassigning to the kde-windows team (nothing for Konversation to do based on the available info).
Comment 4 InAndOutLand 2013-05-31 18:50:10 UTC
Has anybody figured out a solution? Or has any comments?
Comment 5 InAndOutLand 2013-05-31 18:56:51 UTC
I have tried running in two sandboxes. Both of them had the same result as not running in a sandbox. I also have tried compatibility mode. None worked.

Disabling Antivirus did not work.
Comment 7 Patrick Spendrin 2013-05-31 19:17:32 UTC
Can you try to run debugview (from sysinternals) and copy the output here? Also:
Which compiler did you choose when installing konversation?
Did you do a fresh installation or did you update?
Did you install only konversation?

> Can you try to run debugview (from sysinternals) and copy the output here?: Debug View looks a little complex at first glance. I could not figure it out
> Which compiler did you choose when installing konversation?: I tried both MSVC 2010 and MinGW. Both of them had the same result.
> Did you do a fresh installation or did you update?: Fresh installation
> Did you install only konversation?: The installer said I need more pacakges to install Konversation.

How did you install KDE windows? Did you follow http://techbase.kde.org/Projects/KDE_on_Windows/Installation ?

Which compiler did you use, MinGW or MSVC?
