Description edA-qa mort-ora-y 2013-05-13 03:28:38 UTC
The search filter settings (like path, pattern) are not being saved when the user exits their KDE session.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Modify some search settings, path/pattern
2. Perform a search
3. Logout from KDE
4. Login
5. Load Kate
6. Changed pattern/path is not shown

If I exit via "Quit" in the menu the settings are saved (but I rarely do that).

This may be related to bug 313000.

KDE Platform Version 4.10.2
K/Ubuntu 12.04 (Fully updated)
Comment 2 Kåre Särs 2013-05-17 18:34:39 UTC
The current mechanism to save settings saves the settings to disk on session exit (this is also done on controlled application exit). I suspect that the problem is that Kate does not exit/quit properly on Logout...

The settings are still not saved in version 15.12.13 (KDE 5.18.0)

It actually seems even worse now. I can't get it to save the settings regardless of what I do.

The reproduction does not involve logout anymore. Simply choosing "Quit" from the file menu causes this to happen (that is, the settings are just never saved, regardless of how one exits the application).

Are you talking about the simple search and replace (ctrl+f, ctrl+r), or about the "Search and Replace" toolview on the bottom?

The simple search & replace (ctrl+f, ctrl+r) works for me.

This is the bottom docked search and replace toolview, the one that supports searching through multiple files.

Works with current KF5 release.
