Description fglopez 2013-05-12 18:54:25 UTC
Hi,

Okular sports the option to forget the recent opened documents, but ... in order to improve its privacy profile ...

... would it be possible to add a preference setting to optionally stop saving history of recent opened documents ???

Regards.

Ps.- I am running Okular 0.15.5 over KDE 4.9.5 on a Kubuntu 12.10 amd64 box.

Reproducible: Always

This request doesn't make much sense, if you are worried about your privacy, use multiple users, that's why they exist.
Comment 2 fglopez 2013-05-19 15:48:37 UTC
Well ... you are right ... but there are occasions, fortunately not many, where you find yourself in a position where you have to use a shared computer through a public user and without being the Adm ( in a public library for instance , in a nursing home , etc ... ) . I believe providing this option would CONFORTABLY allow Okular users to wear higher privacy standards.

Another use case could be you being the Adm of these public shared computers. You could provide better privacy respect to your users through this option.

I think it is just an additional option ... maybe I am asking for too much ...

 Thank you anyway.

In those rare situations you can always go and use the "Clear list" entry in the Recent opened documents, no?

It's actually possible to do this already for all apps in System Settings > Workspace Behavior > Activities > Privacy > Do Not Remember

Is that sufficient, or are you looking for the ability to never remember recent documents only in Okular? If so, can you describe your use case that makes this a requirement?
