In the Recent Documents in Kickoff the files are shown without filetype ending. Though you can see the ending when you hover over the path shown below the file name you cannot see it by just scrolling. The file ending belongs to the file name and should never be hidden.  I doubt that it is such a security issue as it is with some other OS but at least it is hard to differentiate between documents with the same name and a different file type with the same application icon at one glance (odt/doc e.g., jpg/png etc).
