Description Till Schäfer 2013-04-19 15:42:37 UTC
I would like to see a quick spell checking option in Kate (and Kate-part) that is similar to the spell checking in eclipse.

Workflow:
When moving the text cursor over a misspelled word, there should be shortcut that brings up all alternatives and the option to add the word to the dictionary or ignore it in a list/menu (similar to the code completion in kdevelop or kile or whatever). It should be simple to select an option by pressing the up and down arrow and pressing enter.

Advantages:
Currently it is cumbersome to get a quick correction with the keyboard only. One can trigger the spell checking dialog by shortcut, but this dialog is oversized to quickly fix a single mistake. The alternative is to use the mouse and do a "right click" -> "spell checking" -> "select an option" (simply open this menu directly by a shortcut may be a solution). This is the reason i barely use the alternatives, but fix the mistake "by hand".

Reproducible: Always

Dear user,

this wish list item is now closed, as it wasn't touched in the last two years and no contributor stepped up to implement it.

The Kate/KTextEditor team is very small and we can just try to keep up with fixing bugs. Therefore wishs that show no activity for two years or more will be closed from now on to keep at least a bit overview about 'current' wishs of the users.

If you want your feature to be implemented, please step up to provide some patch for it. If you think it is really needed, you can reopen your request, but keep in mind, if no new good arguments are made and no people get attracted to help out to implement it, it will expire in two years again.

We have a nice website kate-editor.org that provides all the information needed to contribute, please make use of it. For highlighting improvements our user manual shows how to write syntax definition files.

Greetings
Christoph

Damn. It's been 8 yrs since this issue is created. Any updates?

No, as nobody cared enough for this to provide some patch.

Help for sure is welcome.

The context menu has this now.
