When opening an attachment, kmail gives the option to "remember" the settings. After I check this, it "updates the system", and then opens the appropriate application with the attachment. However, it does not actually update the system. I have to point it to the application everytime I get a similar extension. Specifically, I get sound files (.wav) which I open with Dragon. But, it does not remember the settings. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Click on attachment. 2.Select appropriate application with which to open attachment and select "remember application associated with this file type". 3. Clicking on the attachment again will result in the same dialogue. Actual Results: Program never remembers settings. Expected Results: Kmail should automatically load said applicaiton On a hunch, I checked the "file associations" settings in the kde system settings, and Dragon Player is indeed set as the default to open .wav files. The next two underneath Dragon Player are Clementine and Amarok, respectively. However, Kmail does not seem to know this. Running Kubuntu 12.10.
This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present? If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kmail2 (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.12 or later), it gets closed in about three months.
Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
