Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Navigate to folder with video file(s)
2. Switch to icons view mode and turn preview on
3. Select video file(s) and press Ctrl-x
4. Mouse over.
Actual Results:  
...

Thanks for the bug report, that looks strange indeed. I can't test it myself at the moment, but maybe you could tell me if this is indeed limited to video files only? It would be strange if the issue happens for previews for videos, but not for images.

Yes, probably. Images or fonts, for example, looks fine.

Turns out, not only video thumbnails are affected. From what I have checked, also previews of text/html files.

I cannot reproduce this behavior with Dolphin 17.12.3. The preview turns gray, but looks "normal". Can you confirm that this issue is now resolved for you?
