Description Andreas Cord-Landwehr 2013-04-08 17:41:45 UTC
Artikulate uses language specifications (called "phonology") that define lists of available phonemes for a language. In short, a phoneme is a natural sound of a language. (For a detailed explanation see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoneme.) We need such a phonology for every language to be able to tag phrases by the sounds that are specific to this language. Using phoneme tags for phrases enables users to select specific phonemes that they want to improve and hence allows a more focused training.

The already available languages can be found here [1]. To start this task, pick an arbitrary language for that a phonology is missing and create it! Please have a look at the already existing phonology files. For starting with the creation of a phonology, a good starting point are pages like: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_phonology. The result of this task should be a well formed XML file as defined by the scheme artikulate.git:/schemes/language.xsd. Please submit the final XML file as a review request at https://git.reviewboard.kde.org/.

You can either fetch the Artikulate repository or browse it at [2]. For setting up Artikulate please see [3]

The link [1] is unavailable. How can I get the list of languages already available?
