Description Kete Tefid 2013-03-24 07:55:56 UTC
After resuming from hibernation, powermanagement becomes unaware of what power sources the computer is running on. For example, if the computer hibernated while it was on AC and then resumed while the power was cut off (i.e. on battery), still kde thinks that the power is connected and as a result of that, the AC profile is loaded while the computer is really on battery.
Of course, disconnecting and reconnecting the AC power source makes it aware.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Hibernate while on AC.
2. Remove the AC power while the pc is turned off.
3. Resume from hibernation on battery and you will see that powermanagement thinks that AC adapter is still present.

OR
1. Hibernate while on battery.
2. Connect the AC power while the pc is turned off.
3. Resume from hibernation on AC and you will see that powermanagement thinks that AC adapter is not present.

Was about to report the same. I had the "OR" case: Suspended while on "low battery", connected the AC, resumed -> every minute the monitor get's dimmed to "barely readable". Quite distracting ;)

Thank you Franz for coming over and confirming this bug. To add more information, even logging out and in does not help.

I just realised that we both experience this with 4.9.5.
Tried to repoduce this with opensuse-12.3, kde-4.10.0, but there it seems to be fixed.
Could someone with stock-4.10.1 confirm this is really fixed and not just an opensuse patch?

Nevertheless:
I liked the old way (4.8?) with different profiles rather then fixed "AC, battery, low battery" better.

Updated my stable 4.9.5 laptop to 4.10.1 (Gentoo) and the issue persists - but only in "one direction": When pulling the AC during sleep it won't fall into "battery" mode after resume. But pluggin cable in during sleep powerdevil goes into "AC"-mode after resume.
Opensuse works correctly in both directions.
Comment 5 Kete Tefid 2013-04-09 17:20:58 UTC
I upgraded to 4.10.1 and the issue persists in both directions.
Comment 6 Franz Trischberger 2013-04-12 14:19:25 UTC
Solved - by switching to systemd :(
Seems powerdevil is broken with non-systemd-systems.

Were you using Ubuntu when this bug was reproduced? if not, what distro?

Thanks !

As I already wrote it's a gentoo system.

Alex, do you need more information from the bug reporter? Please set the status.

No response, changing status.

Hello,
What kind of information do the developers need more?
If anyone needed more info, they should simply *ask* and say so. But here I do not see any questions unanswered. Moreover, nobody even asked me to provide more information.
Again, I would be happy if you wanted me more info.

This bug is reported on libsolid which is the kdelibs4 version of the solid library. It is now in maintenance mode. If you think it should still be fixed in the KDE Frameworks 5 version of solid please move it to or report a bug on frameworks-solid or Powerdevil.

Same behaviour in openSUSE Tumbleweed
Comment 14 Michal Hlavac 2016-01-03 09:33:31 UTC
For me it's fixed in plasma 5.5.1

Hello! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this project has been unmaintained for many years so I am closing this bug. Please try again with the latest version and submit a new bug to frameworks-solid if your issue persists. Thank you!
