I assume you have two collections at the said locations, not albums under one collection /home/markus? What do you mean by "digikam searches"?
I have two two collections 1. /home/markus/Bilder 2. /home/markus/BilderRemote if I add a folder on /home/markus/BilderRemote/test/test2 I get this console output: digikam(21624)/digikam (core) Digikam::CollectionScanner::scanAlbum: Folder does not exist or is not readable: "/home/markus/BilderRemoteRemote/test/test2" no files are shown, no thumbnails are generated. Note that BilderRemoteRemote does not exist the foldername is BilderRemote

I add images to two collections with same initial paths 1) home/swati/Pictures 2) home/swati/Snaps Thumbnails are generated for both. Try version 5.0.0 If you think the report is still valid, feel free to re-open.
