I think it would be nice to support showing photos for trusted keys, because that would offer an additional visual cue that the key is safe.

This does not invalidate the argument that keys with images are bigger, but it counters the argument, that images give a false sense of security: If the key is trusted, images cannot give an additional false sense of security, because the key is already regarded as secure.
