Just tried to browse an 4Gb archive (extracted size is ≈15Gb) and once I clicked on it dolphin started to extract it to my /tmp directory. I don't know who invented that behavior... !. Not all users have enough space in /tmp, my entire root partition is 20Gb and there are only 4Gb of free space. /tmp directory is mounted to RAM and its size is 5Gb. So what happened when I clicked that archive — kio_archive ate all my memory and swap (I have 2Gb only) and my system died, I've lost my banking reports and a few more important documents. 2. Also, archive I had opened contains important information, I don't want it to be copied anywhere without my knowledge. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Click on any archive in dolphin, it will extract it automatically to the /tmp directory without informing you. Actual Results: Dolphin always extract archives without informing the user. Expected Results: Dolphin should not extract anything, all it should do here is just read archive data.
Thanks for the bug report. This does not have anything to do with Dolphin, we use a kioslave for browsing archives -> reassigning (I hope kio/tar is the right component).
I cannot reproduce this behavior with KDE Frameworks 5.48 and Dolphin 18.07.70, there is no folder (at least not a visible) in /tmp that looks like the .tar.gz I opened in Dolphin. @Alexander, can you confirm that this issue has been resolved? Thanks!
