Description eArquilla 2013-03-12 23:03:54 UTC
All of Kontact actually will not work properly until i restart kwallet. Closing the program does not work. In fact, closing Kontact and then trying to re-open causes the icon to bounce and not show up. I will have to wait quite awhile before I try to open it back up for it to work.

I randomly decided to disable kwallet and re-enable it and then all of a sudden everything worked properly. It is not a permanent fix, however. The issue repeats itself daily.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Use Kontact/Kmail
2. Issue will eventually occur
Actual Results:
Retrieving Folder Contents Please wait..

Expected Results:
To see my emails

Update:

I only notice this issue after initial login to KDE. KWallet prompts for password and seems to accept it but Kontact has the same issues described above until I disable KWallet and re-enable it.

Specifically: I disable KWallet and my email accounts will ask for the direct password for their respective accounts, I'll hit cancel, and they'll go offline. I then re-enable KWallet and update all folders and subfolders, which then asks if I want to make the account online again, I say yes, and everything works great after that.

The same exact issue also happens on my laptop which I just set up with Gentoo yesterday.

Additional update:
Kwallet has caused my laptop to become unusable, and the fix above no longer works. I enter in my kwallet password and simply everything fails. Can't connect to Internet, can't connect to email accounts, can't connect to my owncloud contacts or calendar...

I'm forced to disable kwallet entirely for now until there is a fix/suggestion

Both desktop and laptop still having issue in kde4.10.3

Laptop is now usable again, but I need to disable kwallet and re-enable after I turn the computer on. It simply doesn't work correctly when I initially put the password in.

I have no idea if this is related or not, but "tail .xsession-errors" results in:
[code]

Ha, no code tags, eh?

One last thing, KDE for windows seems to work fine. I downloaded it mainly for dolphin so that I can access my ssh share from work from a file browser. That requests my kwallet password when I attempt to access the share and it works immediately. I have only noticed the issue on my Gentoo desktop and laptop. My first thought was that maybe it's a missing use flag but the only use flags kwallet has is handbook, aqua, and debug.

I think that's the same problem as 254198.
