Description Aleksey Kontsevich 2013-03-02 19:10:55 UTC
Keyboard indicator disappears in all KDE versions 4.7.x - 4.9.5. Sometimes after screensaver, sometimes after login (need to restart session to enable it again). And When such situation happens icons styles in tray changes also - boring bug so many years.

Reproducible: Always

Which keyboard indicator do you mean? Language/Layout? Or Caps Lock indicator?
Comment 2 Aleksey Kontsevich 2013-03-04 01:11:54 UTC
language
Comment 3 Andriy Rysin 2013-03-04 12:26:16 UTC
could you please attach your kxkbrc, .xsession-errors, and Xorg.0.log files right after this happens?

so icons dissapear completely or they just get hidden? are there more icons if you click triangle icon on the right?
Comment 13 Aleksey Kontsevich 2013-03-04 22:23:32 UTC
Completely, and no kxkb in process list. It crashes and icons style (for example klipper) is changed.
Comment 14 Andriy Rysin 2013-03-07 02:59:26 UTC
There's no kxkb process in kde, keyboard layouts are controlled by kded daemon module. I looked at the logs and I don't see anything related to keyboard layouts that make them disappear (especially I don't see any crash there). Also keyboard layouts would not affect other icons style for sure.

I am reassigning this to general kde product as I would not be able to help here.

I'm experiencing similar problem in Arch Linux. When i enable language layout indicator from KDE SystemSettings 'Input Devices' module, it dissapears from tray on KDE restart. I'm on KDE 4.12 and it happened across several previous versions.

Works fine for me on 4.10.5. Think this is some kind of regression bug which migrates from one major version to another.
