Description Michael Reiher 2013-03-01 16:49:40 UTC
I have trouble changing the LDAP password. The password of this LDAP account is changed every 90 days or so (it's tied to the local Active Directory). Then the LDAP client correctly complains that it can't login and asks me to enter a (new) password. And even though I always selected "Save password" it never got stored. For instance .kde/share/config/kabldaprc contained a password which was months old.

On the other hand it's doesn't always complain, sometimes it just silently tries with the old, wrong password. This leads to my AD account getting locked after 3 failed attemtps...

Reproducible: Always

I confirm it. Don't know how to fix yet

I have the same issue, after password change I get asked for the password every time. It makes sense that it asks once, but the new password doesn't make it into the wallet.
I just checked and I have the original password (before the change) in the .kde/share/config/kabldaprc instead of KWallet. That is another problem... I may have clicked ok to store it in there at some point though.

This seems to be related: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=279724
Comment 5 Michael Reiher 2013-04-03 10:25:30 UTC
The problem that it's saved only in kabldaprc and not in the wallet is fixed in 4.11 (as far as I understood the wallet is not used at all up to now for this LDAP usage), see https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=315954
Comment 6 Laurent Montel 2013-04-03 10:30:30 UTC
yes ldap password was never stored in kwallet. I implemented it for 4.11

so bug 279724 is totally wrong.

but yes I know kioslave/ldap doesn't store it in kldaprc or kwallet.
I started to look at how to implement it. Don't know for the moment. But will investigate.

This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kmail2 (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.12 or later), it gets closed in about three months.
Comment 8 Denis Kurz 2017-01-07 21:44:33 UTC
Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
