Description Aaron Peterson 2013-03-01 08:30:57 UTC
This guy has a good description of a solution to a problem.

I don't care how great KDE looks, if it is hard to use.

I use classic kicker, because it is much easier to use than the new weird one.
The only issue is that if I open a submenu, then try to move my mouse onto it, it opens the submenu below it, and selects the item in that, and as I click, it opens that program!...

It even showed that I had selected the correct program, then it switches to showing the submenu below!

Another feature request to this, is that if I click on a menu. It should stay open until I click on another submenu.
It should be like a "soft pin" open.

The bad behavior happens in all of the KDE applications with menus.
(Dolphin, Kontact (although only in the other orientation))

This may be an upstream issue/QT.

What actually gets ran

Because it is right below the other button, it is alarming that I saw it selected, and then all of a sudden another program is selected.

The submenu selection area overlaps with the menu selection area....
It should not be..

Perhaps if you lower the menu selection area when the submenu is open that would work fine.
(it is simpler than trying to deal with detecting anglular motion)

Yes, it is. Please report directly to Qt developers via https://bugreports.qt-project.org/
