In a newly created kde-profile there is no sync-button like it was in kde 3.x. Only a "Check Mail" button in kmail is found on the toolbar. In the calendar, todo and contacts componant it doesn't apear at all and there is no way to find the button while trying configure toolbar. The Problem apeared in kontact 4.47 (debian squeeze) and is still present in version 4.4.11 (in debian testing). Profiles which resulted from an updated kde 3.x-version still show the sync-button. Responsible are two missing lines in .kde/share/config/kmailrc ~~~~~ [Groupware] Enabled=true ~~~~~ After adding the two lines to .kde/share/config/kmailrc the buttons to sync korganizer, kmail, and kabc in the kontact container. But there is no possibility to configure this via the frontend - neither it is enabled by default. There is one side-effect of adding these lines manually: The function-key F5 is now ambigous: It's assigned to "syncing the current folder" and to "sync all". Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. start kontact from an free fresh home-profile (e.g. rm or renameyour .kde/ dir) 2. there are no sync-buttons in the components 3. adding the line Enabled=true in .kde/share/config/kmailrc (like described in the Details) it appears.
ok, I found that the bug is already reported - but unfortunately closed - with the same workaround reported above. I think this is not a solution. I searched for a couple of month no for a solution - and I'm afraid that many other users do so. It's a lack of funktionality moving from 3.x to 4.x - and wondering why you can't use kontact as an groupware anymore ....
