Description Martín Cigorraga 2013-02-21 04:11:27 UTC
While I do use the mouse for a lot of mundane tasks I'm a heavy keyboard user and indeed I prefer to use the keyboard anywhere I can because it's faster and it put a lot less of strain to wrists.

An actual problem of Akregator is that it keeps to focus the feeds list windows when a tab is clicked so there's a need of an extra TAB key press to be able to browse the article in the browser window with the arrow keys.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a feed in a tab and wait it to load.
2. Try to navigate the article in the browser area with the arrow keys.
3.
Actual Results:
Not only you won't be able to do that but even if you use the <left> and <right> keys you will be taken back to the feeds list which actually have the keyboard focus.

You will need to first remember to tap the TAB key in order to shift window focus to the browser area.

Expected Results:
Once a tab is selected you should be able to browse the opened article with the <up> and <down> arrows.

For a heavy Akregator user to use the keyboard as much as possible is a *must*.

Thanks for this great KDE feed reader!

I can confirm left and right bring you back to the feed list.
But I can use up and down without problem when switching to a tab.

Is up and down disabled for every feed?

Hello Maarten!
I don't know what could have happen but after testing thoroughly the behavior I reported I find that the UP and DOWN keys work as expected.
As a side note I'm not sure that the LEFT and RIGHT keys actual functions bothers me too much as I find handy to be able to browse between feeds inside the feed list using those keys and then use UP and DOWN to browse the highlighted feed or any other feed opened in a tab.

Also being able to switch between tabs using ALT+number is great.

I will close this report since I can't reproduce the problem I first reported - yes, I know, weird.
Sorry for the noise and thanks a lot for your comment.
