Description Aaron Peterson 2013-02-15 23:25:31 UTC
Major because of data loss every time I missclick a widget and it goes poof, I loose 5 minutes of work that it took me to set up the widget.

This happens a few times on every machine, and I have many machines.

The plasmoids are very tempermental, and do not snap, and overlap with other plasmoids in hard to arrange ways., but that is out of the scope of this bug.

I spend a few minutes selecting which folder I want to be in folderview, change the settings to somethign sane, then accidentally delete the folder view.

There is no Undo.

We need to start giving every plasmoid an ID, and save it in a "Plasmoid Library" on the computer, so I can pull up an already configured plasmoid.

I know that it is a text file, and that making a new text file with the plasmoid in it would be relatively trivial, pulling them back in should be trivial too.
Generating a preview of the previously configured plasmoids may also be easy for you guys, but I don't know how to do that.

This is just a relatively big drain on me because I maintain 4 kubuntu boxes, and there is still no good way to set up a profile because all the KDE apps have session settings mixed in with configuration setting folders, so If I just copy the config like I should be able to do, stuff breaks, but that is also behond the scope of this.

This is a basic usability issue, It is very frustrating to have my custom configuration be wiped out, and I am good at making them now (at least twice per computer).. and it still takes too long.

Hello!

This feature request was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this feature request is already implemented in Plasma 5, or is no longer applicable.

Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this feature request. If the requested feature is still desired but not implemented in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting

If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging

Thanks for your understanding!

Nate Graham

I know that if I change the screen resolution my panel settings are lost

So pretty sure this isn't implemented
