Description Simon Andric 2013-02-12 01:03:29 UTC
hello!

im using kubuntu raring kde 4.10 the newest stuff (also project neon, but i use ktorrent in regular boot of kde) ... i made manual connection between my fairefox-trunk and ktorrent regarding magnet links...if i click on magnet link it nicely appears in ktorrent magnet tab, but never gets downloaded so the torrent woudl start. sometimes some trackers apepear but never the magnet link becomes downloaded. also when i click on amgnet link and it goes to ktorrent correctly, it freezes the firefox.trunk, hich then i have to "kill" and again restart (firefox). other than that ktorrent if working fine.

than kyou

nice day:)

Simon

Reproducible: Always

I confirm this bug. Magnet links sit in the magnet tab forever, not finding any peer in torrents that I positively know that have a lot of peers. Considering that more and more trackers only provide magnet links now, this makes ktorrent quite useless.

I confirm this behavior in KTorrent 4.3.1 (Arch KDE 64-bit).
Although it is said to have been resolved (See https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=302997), magnet links take forever to find peers.

confirm this bug in KTorrent 4.3.1 (Gentoo KDE4.10.2 amd64)

I can also confirm this. KDE 4.10.4 KTorrent 4.3.1. It just sits there and does nothing. Any other clients it is almost instant.

I have same issues with some magnet links (Kubuntu 14.04, KDE 4.13.0, Ktorrent 4.3.1, 64-bit).

I have added a magnet (10+ seeders, DHT: on) to the program and after 30 minutes nothing happened. Interestingly, some other magnet links with approximately same amount of peers opened right away. In a attempt to fix this I restarted Ktorrent and the download of the stuck magnet started immediately. However, after a minute, only a few kilobytes of data were downloaded (the torrent seemed to be stuck), so I restarted again and download resumed with proper speed.

when magnets are in the magnets queue and if you by accident clisk on the SAME magnet link in FIREFOX you hang the ktorrent. if you then kill it and restart it the magnets queue is empty :(

it helps if you save the magnets file before killing it somewhere else, but ktorrent doesnt have a import magnet link function...to later import it manually...

nice day
Simon :/

I've noticed this specifically with old RARBG magnets.
A lot of movies are still available and seeded there, if I open a rarbg magnet, it basically never downloads.
If I open it in Deluge though it downloads immediately, I then I can take the .torrent file from Deluge and open that in Ktorrent to add it there. But I've also found that ktorrent hardly seeds RARBG torrents while Deluge does very well.
I'm not sure if this is a config issue, but I've tried various configs to no avail.
