Aggregated notifications are sometimes displayed top-left instead near the taskbar (attachment 1 [details]). Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: I don't know how to reproduce it currently. I have this bug on 2 computers : one with Arch Linux packages, the other with Fedora 18 KDE Repo (http://kde-redhat.sourceforge.net/). The single notification is diplayed at the right place but not the aggragated notifications. I notice when the bug occurs, there is no icon for the Notifications button (attachment 2 [details]).

Hit by this too, but only on newly created accounts, and it is permanent, unlike the original poster... Accounts that were created before 4.10 are not affected.

Not here. My account is created since... dunno, probably 4.0. And I'm affected too. All notifications (kmail, konsole, firefox...) stay at the top left corner of the desktop just like in Damien's screenshot.
Reading the names of people impacted by this bug, I infer we are all french speaking... I wondered whether this could be linked to that, and changed my KDE language to english : bug is gone ! Guys, can you reproduce this behaviour too ? If yes, there might be something in the translation of the systray or notification plasmoid that confuses it, I'll try to investigate further.
Confirmed here too. Switching to english solves it !
I just noticed one thing : I have found one way to "fix" this without changing the locale. I did this : 1) disable the "restore the manually saved session" and set to "start an empty session" 2) stop kde session 3) rm .kde/share/config/session/* 4) restart kde, this starts a new clean session. The notification icon is back and notifications are now attached to the taskbar icon again as it should be. I can enable back the session to manually saved, problem fixed. So may be an issue with old saved sessions in french only ? (are any other locales affected ?)
Created attachment 77578 [details] This system tray is displayed at the top left corner when the panel's height is low. Same problem here, but neither the local reset hack nor the session management cleanup worked. For me, it seems to be a problem in the panel layout. Because if I change the panel's height to a higher value, the notification bar gets gradually resized as well, getting back to its original place. Also, I can't add any widgets to the panel, they're now invisible in the widgets bar. See the attached screenshot.

Hmm, the session workaround has no effect here. Wow, this bug has a really weird behaviour...
Opensuse 12.3 / kde 4.10.0 / 4.10.1 I have also oft this bug. Up left of the screen, the display of notification is not good, with 4.10.0 and 4.10.1. I have erased my home/.kde . The notification has worked just for a while. After this, this problem is back.
I had this bug and when I upgrade my config from 4Go to 6Go of RAM, the problem was gone... really strange...
Created attachment 78136 [details] Notifications on top left I have the same issue. Using a new kde profile on ArchLinux x86_64 with KDE 4.10.1. Using a french canadian profile (LANG=fr_CA.UTF-8 in /etc/locale.conf), I haven't touched KDE's language setting at all.
A workaround for this bug can be found here : http://victorhckinthefreeworld.wordpress.com/2013/03/21/opensuse-12-3-quitar-notificaciones-de-kde-en-la-esquina-superior-izquierda/ (spanish page, you can use Google Translation).
hello i found another pb when someone assumes this is a french language pb https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=298476 in comment 18 and 28 another hypothesis is assumed : digikam or qt has a sizing pb perhaps we can assume same hypothesis : kde notifier or qt has a pb to put at the right place its windows
Same here - no icon and top-left notifications on two computers with openSUSE 12.3 KDE 4.10.1. Tried clear session but didn't help.
I am having this bug only when using the translation to spanish. If i choose to start KDE everything is normal. In my setup, i have KDE 4.10.2 but the kde-l10n-es package i am using is 4.9.5 ; this is, it is not in sync with the release. Could be this the problem? Some untranslated string is breaking something?
Also happens with up to date kde-l10n-es package (4.10.2)
Same problem with archlinux x86_64 and KDE 4.10.4 on a fresh install. Notifications osd is on left top corner and the icon disappear of the box. If i place the notification widget on my desktop, icons work fine but i have 2 osd. One at the right place and a second at the top left corner. Notice the tpo left corner notification look strange, too much transparencies.
I am also affected by this issue and I am using openSuse 12.3 with Slovak language
Created attachment 82496 [details] Power management applet This screenshot is maybe related with this issue.
I also have the power management applet bug with french locales. The applet is corrupted in the menu like attachment 82496 [details]. Sometimes, the power management applet is displayed top left, corrupted like the aggregated notification one.
opensuse 13.2 x86_64 kde 4.13.80 clipboard , kmix notification is displayed at the upper right corner but not plasma-nm
Hello! This bug report was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this bug has already been resolved in Plasma 5. Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this bug report. If the issue described here is still present in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging Thanks for your understanding!
